I did this piece of art after finding a dead grass snake on the road outside our house. Poor thing. He was probably just going to hibernate… or hunt. The wound was fresh too. Blood stuck to his skin in a gooey mess. He was completely flattened. So flat, I thought it was just a tire tread at first. I carried him into our garden and hung him round the neck of the Buddha statue to show of life and impermanence.

This is a lovely drawing, though a sad story that this guys life was ended, but onto a new one for him! We have lots of snakes around here, and some of them have been seen frozen to death in the yard.
Hey Erica! Yes. A sad story. Snakes are one of my favourite animals, so I was especially sad. But doing this for it: carrying it into out garden off the road where it was killed… putting it around Buddha’s shoulders. I feelt like I was honoring it, which is a great feeling. Thank you for your comment.
Very cool.
Thanks!
Hey, cool! The background texture…grass etc. looks snakeskin-ish! Another metaphor perhaps, the cycle/ rebirth? I always see things like this… perhaps it is only me
Thank you very much. Yes. I can see rebirth in it. I can at least see storm, which could symbolize death… so I suppose that means it could mean rebirth.
