My Twenty-Thirteen

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 16,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

How Was Everyone’s Christmas?

How was everyone’s Christmas? :-)

I must admit, I have not got so excited about Christmas this year as I have done before. But I did have a great time :-)

Not just for the presents either, although I got some great presents (a PS3 and a Phone among other things), but for seeing my family, and for having a relaxed but very enjoyable two days.

Christmas

Christmas morning my Nana and Grandad came round, and we went for a walk round the park with their dogs, which I always enjoy doing :-) We then walked back home, and ate some mince pies and opened some presents.

Then when they had left we started preparing lunch. And no, not the ordinary Christmas Lunch…. an Indian Banquet :D

We made Reshmi Kebabs for our starter, with Bhajees, a Carrot Salad and homemade chutneys.

For main, a Goan Chicken Curry with Dahl, Rice, Flatbreads (and more of the delcious chutneys we had with starter).

And finally, for dessert, Ice Cream made with a real vanilla pod (which was quite special) with a shortbread biscuit.

WOW! :-)

Boxing Day

On Boxing Day we went to our Gran and Grandads, where we had a lovely roast lunch, and then Christmas Pudding (yes, all a little more traditional :D ). I was given a Nokia Lumia 520, which I am now figuring out how to use. I can also use it to connect to the internet (and for free at home).

We also got some great Ps3 games. If you have a Ps3, I would strongly advise Little Big Planet (especially if you like games such as Donkey Kong Country- which I loved), Fifa 14 (GREAT football game!), and Little Big Planet Karting (if you like Mario Kart this is perfect). Haven’t tried all of my games yet :-)

My First Rap: “Trendz”

The Cover (designed by myself) for my new Single, "Trendz".

I haven’t been posting much recently. Thats because I’ve writing and working on a rap tune!

I have liked listening to rap for a long time, and I have written many poems (And after all, rap is poetry). So I decided to write my own rap. Have a listen to it on my blog “Geo-M’s Music Blog” here!

You can also check out my SoundCloud account here.

I hope you enjoy :-)

Longing Spring- A Poem

Here is a poem I wrote earlier for a Literacy writing project. I haven’t written any poems for a while, so it was sort of good to do one again :-)

Longing Spring

The weakened trees are drooping low

On that hill smothered with snow

Those trees that once stood bold and tall

Look as if any moment they could well fall

The children that just months ago would laugh and play

Now sit inside, beside their fires, all day

Sipping hot cocoa, warming their hands on the cup

Wishing the weather would brighten up

There was Christmas to look forward to, true

But what they really longed to do

Was play with friends of an afternoon, under the sun

‘Til a “dinner time” call came from their mum

They were stranded in a desert island in winter’s sea and

Spring’s grassy mainland nowhere to be seen

They wished away the days until the day

They could once more go outside to play

And they no longer now felt down and glum

Cos finally, finally, the Spring had come

And all of the boys and girls played happily under the sun

‘Til a “dinner time” call came from their mum

Why Do You Steal From Nature? – A Poem

I actually wrote this poem here to go with some photos which you can check out here on my Art Photography Blog.

Why Do You Steal From Nature?

Why do you steal from nature?

When nature is perfect!

And one of it beauties

Perhaps, it constantly changes.

Vainly attempt to preserve

Its brilliance

And do you feel better?

Oh do you?

Do you?

Or do you feel

GUILT

And is it still so glorious

When you’ve torn it from its place

On Earth

And its encased

Inside a block of glass

In a cabinet

In a draw

In a cupboard

In a room

In a house

In a street

In a city

In a landscape

Where nature is no longer to be seen.

And don’t you feel it was all in vain

Don’t you wish as you look upon what you’ve done

That you’d left nature alone.

Don’t you see, there’s no life left

Now inside that block of glass.

A species dead because of you.

And oh god, I am one of you…

And think.

If you hadn’t have

Hunted

Slaughtered

Hoarded

Hunted

Slaughtered

It wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Nature wouldn’t be scarred like this.

Species wouldn’t become extinct

Don’t you feel guilt?

Learning HTML Coding

I’ve been learning HTML coding recently, on a website called “Codecademy”. I’m getting on really well. Last time I tried coding, I started on Python, which is really quite advanced. I’m learning a lot more, and more quickly learning HTML, and thats mainly down to Codecademy. I really advise it, It’s really helped me and I’ve really enjoyed it aswell!

Heres a link:

When you learn HTML, you can do some really smart stuff with WordPress posts, by writing the post in “Text” rather than “Visual”. If you do this, you can change background-color, color, font-family, font-size etc, which you wouldn’t normally be able to do:-)

Poem Published In Wordsmith, Creative Writing Mag

Found out yesterday that I’ve had my poem- The Winged Child, published in Wordsmith, a quarterly creative writing magazine for kids, in the “My Poems” section!! :D I got a years subscription to the mag online, and this is my second issue.

I am really enjoying the mag, especially the poetry and creative writing sections, but also the photo gallery. I would strongly advise any young writer to subscribe to this mag, which you can do here at Wordsmiths online site.

(You may have noticed that it says here I’m twel ve. I entered this poem just a week before my thirteenth birthday in February :-) )

This post is to let you know that my mum, administrator of “Live Grow Nourish Create”, has started up a new paleo food blog, called Primal Family Nourishment (which you can check out here)

Viv, administrator of Primal Family Nourishment says here in her about page: “This blog is to document our progress as we transition towards a “primal” way of eating emphasising fresh meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, and minimal high fat dairy.”

Help Needed On Which Simpsons TV Series To Buy!!!

I’ve been reading some Simpsons comics lately, and I was thinking that maybe I’d get a Simpsons DVD with some of my leftover birthday money (£40). I never knew there were over 30 series tho

Now, maybe the obvious thing to do would be to start with 1 and work my way through the series  , but from a few reviews I’ve read, the first 5 or so series aren’t all that  . I thought that maybe I’d start with Series 11 or 12?!

Which series do you advise I purchase? Which series was best in your opinion?
